Solid audio is an essential part of the gaming experience. For my millennium PC build I wanted something that could truly communicate the destructive blasts and shrieks during an Unreal Tournament session

I was lucky to find a new old stock Altec Lansing ACS40 set of computer speakers on eBay for £35. Altec Lansing? I remember not being able to afford that brand when I was younger. Yes please!

In a fantastic twist of fate a few weeks later I spotted on eBay the matching Altec Lansing ACS250 Subwoofer which I managed to snag for £9. Most likely become it’s not as useful, unless you’ve got the matching speakers to pair with it.

The audio from just the speakers is extremely solid and would make any gaming PC setup proud. They provide crisp and strong sounds across the range.

However once they’ve been paired up with the subwoofer! Blimey… it’s literally a room shaking experience when turned up.

With such a great speaker setup I also decided it was only appropriate to also upgrade the Millennium PC with a Sound Blaster Audigy card.

Playing Unreal Tournament on a CRT with such a banging sound system is a true joy. I’m not sure if my neighbours share the sentiment!
