Doesn’t seeing all those old technology stickers take you right back?
Intel Inside must be one of the most iconic, but certainly I can imagine seeing 3dfx or Nvidia must also stir similar nostalgic emotions in many.
I recently placed an order with Geekenspiel who operates a website that sells a large variety of reproduction retro computing stickers.
A few years ago I started making labels for each of my retro computers so that I would know at a glance what spec hardware they had inside. Very useful for finding the right machine for a job quickly.
These work really well, but when I discovered Geekenspeil’s store I realised that I could convey some of the same information using something much more visually appealing (and just plain geeky).
After an enjoyable browse through the collections available I settled on a nice selection that I could use on my 386 (DOS era), Pentium 200MHz (Windows 95 era) and Athlon XP (WinXP) era machines.
Once the stickers turned up I carefully removed the existing stickers and set about giving the case a through clean with everyone’s favourite Isopropanol alcohol.
Then it was just a matter of carefully applying the stickers to ensure that the placement and spacing was atheistically pleasing.
Yup, I’m pretty pleased with the results.
