A ZX Spectrum prototype from the Cambridge Computing History museum.
The Spectrum is a funny little machine. A bundle of cheap parts pulled together to create an affordable computer.
For Britain in the 80s it provided a cost effective entry into home computing for many homes throughout the nation.
In America the more expensive Apple II & C64 had a much bigger impact, as generally they were affordable to the more affluent nation.
So really the history of computers is more of a socio-economic history of the society that created and used them.
Anyway - it’s cool to see this recently discovered prototype
